Hunting for music?

December 17, 2009

wearehuntedWondering what Twitterers are listening to?

We Are Hunted is a music streaming chart site based on the most popular music played or streamed on forums, music blogs, etc. The chart is updated in real-time by tracking what music online users are saying or playing. They now have a section where you can view the top 99 popular songs mentioned on Twitter.

I think this is an interesting social media experiment to see which age bracket majority of Twitterers are. Will we find Barry Manilow or Beyonce on the chart? Maybe both, who knows. Hey, when I clicked on it today, Elvis was up on number 4!

Its also a good insight to see which new artists are emerging BEFORE they make it to the top 40. If you feel like checking out new artists you were never aware of, you can click on their image and sample their music. To learn more on how it really works, click here.

girl-vs-boy-400

He’s brought us laughs, endless stories, sporadic acoustic outbursts, an un-matachable knowledge of 80′s songs and song lyrics and even greater regurgitation of useless facts, mostly based around sci-fi or technology and now he is returning to his true calling. Tim Watson, aka (to me) ‘Rockstar’, has joined forces with Jono Fernandez to do what he does best – create music. Officially the second best ‘ex-door-neighbor’ you could ever have (Stevo has, and forever will, hold that title), Rockstar is the brains, and voice behind multiple number one tracks and is now turning his creative hand and voice to dance music. (or indie/electronic to be precise)

Girl vs Boy (Featuring Tim Watson) is their first ‘official’ release and is now available in the itunes store. So for the measly price of $1.69 (or $6.99 for the EP) you’ll be supporting a local talent do what they do best. And you will also be able to say “I was one of the first people to get onto these guys”. They have a heap of other tracks to back this up so expect an album soon.

What else can you do for $1.69? Can’t buy you a coffee (or even a baby chino). 1hrs carparking at the beach? Nup, 23 cents short. It’s not even enough to give the kids 30 seconds joy in one of those damn rides placed strategically out front of every supermarket on the planet. It will, however, buy you that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you know you have done something right – and you heard about it first on the gloo Its only one click away….you know you want it!

Music,Rant

The triumphant return of Wolfmother is being celebrated with a free download. Ok, its more of the same but hey, thats what I needed. One album just ain’t enough. In lieu of payment the band just ask you to donate a few bucks to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal 2009. Nice way to raise some cash.

A great microsite to promote Labuat’s  (a Latin artist from Spain) new single “Soy Tu Aire”. Just move your cursor, turn on the sound, feel the song and enjoy the full experience.  As you move your mouse freely, the brush strokes will create unpredictable abstract images and little animations. The faster the music, the heavier the brush strokes. It takes ages to load and you need  the latest flash player but definitely worth a play. I think this is the best “Follow the mouse cursor” animation ever done in flash!

Movideo less tube.

September 27, 2008

If you wanna watch a heap of music videos online check out movideo. Very high quality video streamed without hiccups. You can program your own playlists through an intelligent interface or just let it do its thing. Give it a crack – it’s free, legal and (amazingly) you don’t even have to signup or become a member, a very rare thing in this world. Forget the tube for music video.
