The NGV Winter series began last night with all the glitz and glamour of 1930′s Art Deco.

A 19 piece swing band, flapper girls and an assortment of dead animals draped around beautiful necks. It was enough to make you wonder where did we go wrong? I think every person at the NGV last night would have loved to hail back to such an age of sheer hedonism. Perhaps we have such a romantic notion of that era that we overlook the harsh realities of aeroplanes without jet engines, women’s rights unheard of and the only recent invention of penicillin. Nevertheless I think every girl dreams of Cartier, swing bands and being driven in a car that you rarely see outside of black and white films.

Sick of not being able to quickly find a photo you want
Want to easily search various sites without having 2,563 tabs open?
Get the PicLens plugin!

I’ve found this awesome add on to be very useful, with its full 3D environment which allows you to view thousands of photos, and now even videos, in a full screen, fully browseable dynamic viewer.
It’s da bomb when it comes to searching for research photos for a brief or concept…makes the whole process so much faster!!
You know you want it … just like that new video console …
except this is FREE! Can’t get much better than that!

It’s not just leaving the lights and computers on (P.S, all coffee cups at Igloo are recycled)

Although it may be old news, any news is good news right?
I just came across Newsmap, which is a dream for anyone who has a unnatural love for RSS feeds… it’s a very smart and very visual method of highlighting the top stories, either Live or Archived.
Also a great way to keep up to date with the latest without having to sift through all the tonnes of ads…
